Active mechanisms controlling morphodynamics of a coastal barrier: Ilha Comprida, Brazil

چکیده

The Cananéia-Iguape lagoon-estuarine system, where the Ilha Comprida barrier (IC) is located, one of most dynamic coastal areas on southeastern Brazilian coast. IC island a 63 km-long and it limited by Icapara inlet to north, Cananéia south. This system has been affected intense changes in its morphology since opening Valo Grande artificial channel 1852 A.D., connecting nearby Ribeira de Iguape river Mar Pequeno lagoon. In this context anthropogenic disturbance systems, objective study understand active mechanisms, both natural anthropogenic, controlling morphological northeastern portion IC, from monthly as well centenary timescales. We analyzed successional addition erosion beach ridges using multi-temporal dataset obtained Optically Stimulated Luminescence, aerial photos (1962 2000), satellite images (1980-2016) GNSS surveys (2015-2017). results were compared climatic (rainfall waves) data. Northeastward migration rates ranged 15.5 m/y, surveys, 154 calculated based OSL rates. Changes northeastward are related interference, mainly climate changes. Sediment accumulation occurred during summer baymouth spits. depositional scheme consistent with highest values flow low synergy waves coming South. By contrast, retrogradation coastline occurs winter, when wave power stronger than summer. seasonal configuration controlled bidirectional longshore drift fluvial discharge.

[Vertical and seasonal distribution of Anopheles (Kerteszia) in Ilha Comprida, Southeastern Brazil].

OBJECTIVE Anopheles bellator e An. cruzii are vectors of the so-called bromeliad-malaria, typical of conserved areas. The objective was to evaluate the seasonal and vertical distribution of these anophelines, aiming at assessing the risk of malaria transmission. METHODS In the municipality of Ilha Comprida, Southeastern Brazil, CDC light traps baited with dry ice were placed fortnightly from ...

Simulating Decadal Coastal Morphodynamics

Coastal geomorphic systems provide many services of key importance to humankind, including protection from flood and erosion hazards, diverse habitats and amenity values (Agardy et al., 2005; Jones et al., 2011). However, these systems are widely undergoing degradation that can be substantially attributed to the cumulative direct and indirect effects of human interference. Declining sediment in...

Sediment Transport Modelling for Coastal Morphodynamics

The accurate prediction of sand transport rates in the coastal zone depends not only upon the choice of sediment transport model but also, rather critically, upon the formulation used to predict the bed roughness (ks). Sand transport rates are modelled here using both a One-equation, turbulence-closure, TKE-model and also Bijker’s sand transport model. Following some remarks about the nature an...

Evaluation and management of blue crab Callinectes sapidus (Rathbun, 1896) (Decapoda-Portunidae) fishery in the Estuary of Cananéia, Iguape and Ilha Comprida, São Paulo, Brazil.

The Estuary of Cananéia, Iguape and Ilha Comprida is a part of the Estuarine Lagoon System of Cananéia, Iguape and Paranaguá, on the south coast of São Paulo State, Brazil. It has been recognised for its high standards of environmental conservation. The objective of this paper was to assess the blue crab (Callinectes sapidus) fishing in the region, from January 1998 to December 2006, and obtain...
